Home Allergen Testing

If you, or a member of your family, is known to be allergic to indoor allergens and has symptoms of wheezing, asthma, rhinitis or eczema, testing your home for allergens is useful to check if you have significant exposure. This is also a good idea if you have reason to believe that your symptoms are allergy-related e.g. if you regularly sneeze or have shortness of breath in the presence of cats. Once your home has been tested, you can visit your allergist or physician to discuss treatment options. Dust mites do not transmit diseases and are not harmful to non-allergic individuals.

You can test for mite allergens in the home using Ventia™. You can also collect bed or carpet dust samples using DUSTREAM® and then send the samples to our Environmental Testing laboratory for analysis by MARIA®. The MARIA® report provides the most precise and accurate levels of exposure to the eight most common indoor allergens.

The U.S. National Asthma Education and Prevention Program: Expert Panel Report 3 recommends that patients with asthma should reduce exposure to allergens.
